3/24 Update re: COVID-19

Dear Friends of Owl Peak Farm,

Our beloved Sunday Lunch & Fire Dinner Series is on hold through the end of May. We miss you and hope to resume the gatherings in June, if it is safe to do so. Linda’s Coffee Stop will remain open for take-out only, Monday through Friday 6am-11am. Construction on the toilet and outdoor back deck continues and will create more room to visit once we can gather again. Linda has the goods to-go, kids eat free, and the rest of us pay by donation.

Meanwhile, the farm has donated its buildings and properties to a stranded group of St. John's College students who were abruptly displaced or were unable to return home due to the coronavirus outbreak. We could never have imagined this is how we’d be spending our spring, but given the current state of affairs, we shifted priorities to provide a solution amidst the traumatic situation and chaos in our community. The students have managed the first week of isolation well by organizing themselves and creating a system to ensure everyones health and well being. They are continuing their studies online and volunteering to assist with essential farm duties in our fields, greenhouses, and with our chickens and horses.

Marjory is providing meals for them with her continuing effort to keep us all nourished with rigorously seasonal, resourceful cooking with produce from Owl Peak and other local farms. So, although the school group is a departure from our regular program, it upholds and expands the spirit of the farm and its monthly gatherings, which we see as an ongoing experiment in food, community, and generosity.

Until we meet again, stay well and eat well.
